I've done that numerous times with my quills and they just don't take the dye, I'm not sure why. Did you get your quills fresh from the animal? I hear this does make a difference.

How did you clean your quills before you dyed them?

Hi Kimberly, I have done a bit of rust dyeing and I usually neutralise the fabric with soda. I thought that salt would be a medium to make iron rust more. Whenever I put salt in a jar with a metal lid, the lid starts to rust after a while. However...

Hi Kimberly - Glad you posted a link to this group on FB. I've really been wanting to try natural dying for quite a while. This group should inspire me to get off my b*tt and actually learn something new! I don't have photos of my rusted fabrics yet, but I'll take a few shots of those that I have left and post them.

Hi Kimberly. I am very exicited to see what you are up to on this site.

I found you while I was looking for some information on how to extract the dye from Lady's bedstraw and Madder.

The things you are all doing are so creative and I am dye-ing to try them all. Where does the time go?
