I would love to know the results of using weeds to make dye. We have an over abundance of Scotch Thistle growing in the yard and all around us. Lovely shaggy purple flowers, but are they good for dyeing.?? Ricky in Winnipeg

I'm a member of cqinternational, a very inspiring group and I love to join the rr's. since I can do the stitching sitting on my sofa it is very doable for me. to give me a purpose in live I decided to learn as much as I can. if I would ever recover I could start teaching all the techniques I've learned. I'm doing a lot with stumpwork, which I love to do and also Brazilian embroidery. I buy books to learn from and really enjoy it. meantime I'm a member of an art quilt group in my hometown. my friend and I started it and it is very successfull. we even had to start a second group. for this group I've been playing with painting and ironing on fusable web, stamping, burning organza, playing with fun foam and all that stuff. I'm learning how to screen print. I've just ordered a book on break down screenprinting and tray dyeing. I also ordered silk cocoons and silk rods plus dye thickener. cannot wait to get my hands on all that lovely stuff. I'm doing everything in little bits, no days full of intensive stuff. I do a lot of knitting, nice and quiet on my sofa. did you look at my blog?

are you also on the stitchinfingers ning group? the one that sharon b started? very interesting and inspiring group.
btw I don't need a purpose for what I'm making other than learning or improving a technique.

Our interests are very similar but I have trouble finishing things. Right now I'm doing some cq. They are going to be chair backs and a curtain valance. Maybe if I have a purpose for what I'm making I'll get it done.
