Thanks Darcy, . My main trouble is with the cotton fabric. I want to dye some to use in a quilt but so far it just isn't beautiful. I'll try the iron mordant. Do you think using an iron pot would help?

Hi Laura, Kimberly would know better than I do about how to get better results. But I did find with the pieces of silk that an iron mordant made a remarkable difference in the depth of the color. Darcy

OK - Here are some images of the walnut dyes on silk. Both pieces were premordanted with alum. Then rinsed and remanipulated, then into the husk solution. Then washed, remanipulated and into a homemade brew of iron mordant. The folded piece is charm…
