What are you favorite Natural Dye Techniques?

I am really happy immersing my yarns and fabrics in large dye vats- created from plants that I gather primarily. I like growing the plants very much too, so my garden is pretty filled with dye crops at the moment.

Rebecca, what are some of the plants that you have in your garden for purposes of making dye?

Hi Judy, I am not sure if I answered your question- I am so sorry for this delay, I just now am seeing your thread!
I am growing Japanese Indigo- for blue, sage for bright yellow, Toyon for orange, Coreopsis for orange and yellow, Petunias for 'ice-dying' blueish purple, bee plant for greenish tan, horsetail for rose, willow for light pink, and I have a myriad of species that aren't large enough yet for harvesting- goldenrod, pokeberry, ironweed, stickymonkey flower,... and I think that is it. Check out Rita Buchanon's book a dyer's garden. She has some good common species one can grow, and find at nurseries around the country.
